Norton Motorcycles for Sale
Currently we can provide you with 25 offers for Norton Motorcycles. The Norton brand began in 1898 when James Lansdowne Norton began manufacturing motorcycles with engines imported from Switzerland and France. A Norton cycle won the first Isle of Man Tourist Trophy race in the twin-cylinder class (1907), and for the next 50 years the tradition of many wins on Nortons was upheld. In 1908 Norton began building their own engines, and the 1927 Norton CS1 engine led to the capture of seven Isle of Man wins in the 1930s. During WW II approximately a quarter of British military cycles were Nortons. However, by 1953 Norton was in financial trouble and was sold to AMC. Competition from Japan began an era of many mergers and acquisitions. In 2008, Stuart Garner purchased Norton and returned the brand to the UK where new models are being developed. Historic brands include the Manx, N-V Triumph, and Commando.
